I had hip replacement and lay on my back for 10 months. I got sores in and on my buttocks - went to 3 doctors who treated the sores with lotion. I developed a bad cyst on my back. An operation was scheduled and Maria was my nurse. When she saw my "sores" she said I had "bad bed sores." She said I should get to the Wound Care Center right away. (I had already been with them 10 days.) She went to the waiting room and told my family member to "get me there immediately!!"
I got there the next day - the doctor never said bed sores - fungus? But she had me on Fluconazole 200mg for 10 days at this point and the sores were going down. I took this medicine for 3 weeks (yes, after telling her it was bed sores). This medicine was given orally and it worked! After 3 weeks I was clean. Maria checked with my doctor and met me again to say she was glad I was fine!!
