Maria Juden works in the Beverly Hospital Float Pool and was nominated by a colleague who relayed the story of an older patient who needed extra compassion and observation. The patient had been alone at home, had no access to food, and was not able to perform activities of daily living on her own. Maria spent two hours getting her settled and later helped her take a long hot shower.
"She couldn't remember the last time she had showered and was so grateful for Maria's care and compassion," Juden's colleague said. "The simple act of a nurse taking extra time to give a little TLC meant the world to her. That is what nursing is all about."
