Marianna Ardolino's compassion knows no end. As a Unit Rep, I hear and see much of what goes on in the unit. I have heard Marianna cheer on her coworkers, teach with a gentle but firm and knowing way so that the people she proctors go on to be successful and confident nurses. I have heard her conversations with patients. She can take a scared and angry patient and make them calm and assured they are in caring hands. I can always count on a cheerful uplifting, "Hey girl." Marianna's knowledge of her profession is above and beyond. If I am ever a patient, I would have no doubt in Marianna's quality of care.
Marianna has such an excellent way it is hard to pick a specific situation. If I had to choose, it would be this week. Marianna was giving chemo to a patient plus had an assignment of patients. One patient required much of Marianna's time. Many of her requests were not medically related. That patient was quite angry and would often have an unpleasant way with many people that would come into the room. Marianna would go in and talk to the patient turning the situation around every time and when she would leave the room get a very cheerful "thank you" from the patient. I can honestly say in a few hours stretch Marianna went in the room no fewer than six times and spent time turning things around. Each time Marianna would approach the patient with a cheerful and calm attitude.
