If there is one nurse who constantly demonstrates extraordinary commitment to patient-centered care, it would be Mark. Mark comes to work ready to meet his patients and deliver the best patient care possible. He brings delight to all patients, regardless of their background. Mark constantly works to not only meet the needs of challenging patients but he exceeds their needs. Often, Mark tackles difficult patient assignments. Never does Mark share frustration or let the challenge supersede his nursing abilities. Instead, he greets each patient and supports them throughout their time on our unit.

Notably, a patient who is well known to PAR and orthopedics for being quite the challenge was on our unit. Mark was this patient's nurse for the weekend. Mark was able to anticipate this patient's needs and overall change the tone of patient care for this person. Mark went above and beyond coordinating with social work and the local homeless shelter to ensure the shelter could hold a bed for the patient upon discharge. After presenting with high blood pressure at discharge, Mark was tasked with informing the patient they would have to stay another night. Although frustrated, the patient remained calm because Mark was able to anticipate the patient's needs and provide encouraging words to maintain the overall positive tone and experience for this patient.

Our entire unit was impressed with how Mark navigated what could have been a critical moment in that patient's admission. But that is how Mark Bradley is! He constantly supports the team and jumps in when other teammates need extra support or when patients present with a challenging attitude or situation.
