Marnie exemplifies what it means to be a Holistic Nurse. A moment that sticks out for me is when she went to see a patient that was physically and spiritually struggling. Marnie called in a harpist, the social worker, and the patient's pastor. She spent hours working with the doctor to manage the patient's pain. In the end, the patient was surrounded by family and friends singing the patient's favorite hymn, the preacher saying a prayer and the patient passing. Marnie spent at least 5 hours at this patient's house making sure that the patient and the family were taken care of and at peace. To me, that is dedication not just to the profession but to her patient as well.
Marnie is a Primary Nurse and a weekend Triage Nurse for Hospice. I sit and listen to her talk with family members who are afraid, concerned, confused and overwhelmed with their loved one's current health situation. She does an amazing job at walking these people through procedures. This lady is beyond amazing! I know there are many patients and family members who would agree!
