Martha Letourneau provided outstanding care and compassion to my husband during a recent visit to the Beverly Hospital Emergency Department. My husband was brought in after slipping on our boat while trying to get onto our mooring in Ipswich. From the moment we arrived, Martha was a calming presence. She made us feel comforted, safe and cared for with her warm and friendly demeanor. She immediately made eye contact with me and brought us into the triage area. The boating accident was concerning because Paul had a brief loss of consciousness after falling backward and hitting his side on one of the benches, and she could see that I was worried. Martha wasted no time to act swiftly while listening to Paul's recount of the accident and trying to determine if she should send a trauma alert out. Martha’s clinical expertise was evident as she skillfully attended to my husband's injuries, but it was her kindness and empathy that made all the difference for us. She went above and beyond in every way, providing not just the ultimate nursing care but emotional support too. Her gentle words and reassuring hugs were exactly what we needed during a stressful time. Martha is truly a nurse’s nurse—a leader among her peers and a gem in the community emergency healthcare team. I want to extend my deepest thanks to Martha for providing my family with incredible care.
