I have never cried and opened up to anyone but I did to her that night. She stayed and cried with me. She has a gift to heal people with her compassion and strength.
Mary was very kind and took care of my family member like he was her only patient which I can see she was not. She did not rush us when we had questions and treated my family member with dignity and respect. She also was very cheerful and has a positive outlook that made us feel welcome.

My nurse that night saved me. Her name is Mary Ann Dayanghirang. She was a bright spirit that lent me her time, comforting and listening to me. I have never cried and opened up to anyone but I did to her that night. She stayed and cried with me. She turned a negative experience into one that I will never forget for the rest of my life. She has a gift to heal people with her compassion and strength.

Mary Dayanghirang is the nurse that took great care of my sister last week in the Emergency Department. She was very sick and was on the verge of losing her kidney which was transplanted a couple of years ago due to complications. My sister was stubborn and would not listen to instructions. She was impatient and angry. Mary kept her patience and calm and still checked on my sister regularly. We knew the Emergency Department was very busy. We saw people in the hallways and in the lobby waiting but we were attended to with swiftness. Every call from family members was entertained and everyone on my sister’s list was updated. Every request that my sister asked for had an answer in a timely manner. Although it wasn’t always the answer she wanted. There was always an answer and although my sister was rude and she would occasionally yell at the nurse, she was shown great compassion and care. Mary stayed in the room and tried to attend to my sister and keep her calm throughout the night in the Emergency Department. We would have preferred for my sister to stay in Chesapeake Regional for her care, as everyone was nice and accommodating but my sister needed to be transferred to a different hospital in the morning because of her condition. She understood but was very grateful for the care she received in her stay at Chesapeake Regional. We will never forget our delightful experience in the ER because of Nurse Mary. We hope she gets acknowledged for her dedication and work ethic. Chesapeake Hospital is our preferred hospital for life!
