Mary provides exemplary management of the ward and excellent clinical leadership of nurses. In doing so, improves the day to day of everyone she works with. Mary creates a culture on her ward that enables teamwork with AHPs, and other professional groups on her wards and ensures all staff are supported. She is a great supporter to junior doctors on the ward, making sure they feel at home on the ward. She collaborates with other teams in the face of competing demands (trauma/electives) on T10s and ensures in doing so that high-quality patient care is the focus. Over the past two years in working with Mary I have seen continued improvements on the ward in ring-fencing of beds, harm, patient falls and pressure ulcers. This is due largely to her leadership. She is kind, compassionate and an all-around lovely person to be around. She makes the busiest days feel under control and stress-free. I couldn't possibly imagine a better ward sister to work with.
