Mary always goes above and beyond to serve our patients. Mary works in the pre-operative day surgery area and is always one of the charge nurses on duty. As charge nurse, she is always juggling multiple tasks at one time. Anything from admitting patients, assisting with patient issues, communicating with surgeons, to starting difficult IV's, Mary accomplishes.
At times, Mary has 3 phones in her hands, while at the same time assisting a nurse with an issue, all with a smile on her face. If anyone ever has a difficult IV, Mary is the one to call, and all the nurses know this. Many patients even remember her by name due to her kindness and amazing work.

Mary has done so much for so many people, it is hard to pin point one event. Last year when we had that ice weather, she was one of the four nurses that showed up for work when the rest called in due to not being able to drive. She and a team of three additional nurses got all of the patients ready for surgery that day. To top it off, almost every first case showed up that day. As you know how first cases are and the importance of them going to surgery on time, you could imagine how that morning went. She speaks various languages and always has a smile on her face, even if the person she is talking to does not. Mary has been requested multiple times by patients, staff, and physicians to be their pre-op nurse because she is an awesome nurse and is greatly respected by staff and other physicians.
Mary is very deserving of the DAISY Award!
