My mom has been hospitalized many times over the years, and I have never seen such a kind, compassionate nurse as Mary. Even though my mother is not conscious at the moment, Mary always talks to her and tells her what she’s doing and sometimes why and who she is. She calls her Sweetie and other endearing names, too, in addition to my mom’s name. Many nurses usually do their duties and don’t speak to their patients. Mary keeps my mom’s dignity intact and acknowledges her existence as a person, not just a patient. My mom is not invisible. I wish she could train other nurses on bedside manner!

Mary has also cared for my family members and me by talking to us, answering questions, always asking if we need anything. We never have a time when we feel like we don’t know how to get help if we need it. She covers all the bases.

Mary exemplifies what a nurse should be and is a beacon in AdventHealth’s “healing ministry of Christ.” Thank you for providing such an angel to care for my mom.
