My husband was recently admitted to the 8th floor where we met Mary Jane. She was not only compassionate, friendly and skilled at her job, but she also became our advocate too. At one point my husband was under the care of multiple doctor teams who were not communicating with one another effectively. When he was told something by one team, and something different by another, we were confused and frustrated. Seeing the frustration in our faces, Mary Jane helped us to communicate with the two teams and resolve the issue quickly. During that stay, I was nervous to leave my husband alone for too long for various reasons. I mentioned this to Mary Jane in passing. When it came time for the next meal, she brought me one of the extra dinner trays so that I wouldn't have to leave. Those are just two stories. So much more than that makes Mary Jane a DAISY Nurse. She treated my husband with attentive, kind. careful, friendly care every day. She also seemed to have great relationships with her co-workers. When she asked for assistance, they joyfully came to aide her. She not only knew so much about the regular care my husband needed, but she also took time to answer our questions when we were told he may need a colostomy. She brought in a bag for us to look at and practice operating. She also gave us a lot of literature. And that was just to help us prepare for the possibility of a colostomy. She just took her own time to ease our fears/concerns. To me, that meant everything. She is an amazing nurse and we are blessed to received care from her at such a tough time.
