Marylou recognized the need to track patient's COVID test results better and created a tracking sheet to ensure tests were being performed at the correct intervals.
Marylou is a clinical leader and role model on Milne 2. She puts 110% of herself into the care of our patients. At the start of the pandemic, Milne 2 became the dedicated and first COVID unit. Marylou maintained a calm and professional demeanor during this entire time. She demonstrated compassion and dedication towards the patients in her care along with the staff she works with on Milne 2. Marylou has always been flexible with her schedule and willing to fill a void as needed. She will often stay extra and pick up additional shifts to ensure the patients are cared for. Marylou even volunteered to care for the COVID patients and was extremely attentive to all of their needs. She recognized the need to track patient's COVID test results better and created a tracking sheet to ensure tests were being performed at the correct intervals. Her adaptability and dedication to the patients, team members, and Gaylord were evident during this crisis. Her true character shined through!
Marylou has cared for many challenging patients on an emotional and critical level. Whether it is the family or the patient, she handles situations with professionalism, calmness, and confidence. One example is when we had a critically ill patient who was sent out emergently due to Marylou's attention to detail and exceptional assessment skills. During this incident, she dealt with several family concerns which were heightened due to COVID visitor restrictions. The patient eventually returned to Gaylord, recovered, and was sent home with his family.
Marylou is a staff RN, per diem nursing supervisor, and an active member of the Nursing Shared Governance Council where she has been working on many projects that will result in improved patient outcomes. She also recently joined the PICC Nurse team! You can see there is truly nothing Marylou cannot accomplish!
Marylou amplifies the qualities and characteristics of a DAISY Nurse. She is a true asset to the nursing profession and we are very fortunate to have her on our team!
