Matt always goes above and beyond for his patients. In this particular case, however, I believe he deserves a little more recognition for his compassion. Matt took care of a patient who was homeless and, as always, Matt decided to do anything he could to help the patient. Matt came back to work the next day with his own duffle bag and some extra clothes for this patient. Matt stated that he had two pairs of nicer pants in addition to his normal scrubs and now, he was going to give this patient one of them.
This type of thinking and caring is typical for Matt. He is always so compassionate with his patients and he really knows how to connect with them. When I first met Matt, he was a Certified Nurse Assistant. I have since watched him work incredibly hard to become the amazing nurse that he is today. I have seen Matt buy his patients things that they need or even bring in his own items to give them. Nursing is not his job and is not even his career, it is his passion. His patients mean the world to him and it shows! Matt exemplifies the kind of nurse that CoxHealth values and we are all grateful to be working with him.
