Matthew was faced with a very extraordinary patient and family whom I feel will forever change him. During a very busy day he was given an ill patient who kept him at the bedside for hours. During this time, he was able to learn about a woman who was married for 53 years, was a mother who not only gave her all to her family, but to everyone she knew. A special bond was formed between the nurse and patient when this dear woman took a turn for the worst. I saw Matthew kick into an above and beyond active life defender. He let the family know every change and the interactive encouragement by him was amazing. He truly let the family know he cared with his compassion. His selflessness was extraordinary and meant a lot to the family. Matthew is becoming a well-rounded, very compassionate nurse. His example of care speaks volumes for who we should all try to be.

I am normally one who feels that a visit to the ER when not in an ambulance is a dramatic overreaction. Matthew made me feel comfortable and went above and beyond in his efforts to be professional while also connecting with his patients. He made my fiancé and my experience in the ER as pleasant as absolutely possible. He has outstanding bedside manner, is hospitable to a fault and is a compassionate professional.
