Maureen Harris goes above and beyond for her students. She will meet with students after hours to assist in tutoring and learning when she could easily go home during this time. She has held virtual tutor sessions for her students over the weekend as well. This shows Maureen's dedication to the program. She is always striving to get the best learning opportunities and experiences possible for her students and challenges them at every clinical experience. She is a driving force for the UPMC SON Harrisburg program.
Mrs. Harris is always there for any of the students to help in any way that she can. She always will check in on me, email me encouragement on exam days, and has repeatedly stayed late after clinical to give me the extra help that I need. She has also on occasion, given me inspirational quotes that I now have on my laptop to remind me that I can do this. She is the type of nurse as well as person that I strive to be every day.
Maureen is an amazing clinical instructor; she goes above and beyond for her students every day. Maureen is always finding ways to connect the dots for the students. She created a Jeopardy game to share with her students in post-conference in order to get them to start thinking about perfusion. Mrs. Harris goes out of her way when we don’t understand something. She will spend individual time with us, to make sure we understand it. She is very kind also. Having her as a clinical instructor last semester ignited a fire within myself that I didn’t know that I had, that I am meant to be a nurse. She always has the best interests of students in mind and makes herself available for the betterment and support of us. She wants us all to succeed, and to have someone so genuine and enthusiastic about our well-being and education is really encouraging.
