Meghan helped me set up a way to help the patient attend group via speakerphone, and rounded back with me afterward to see how it went.
On Friday G1 had a new patient who was in seclusion for being Covid Positive. Group therapy is a major part of treatment on G1, and typically those in seclusion are unable to participate. When Meghan learned that the patient had expressed interest in going to group, she came to me to explore options for him to participate. She said, "what’s stopping us from making this happen right now?" She helped me set up a way to help the patient attend group via speakerphone, and rounded back with me afterward to see how it went. I was struck by her proactive quote and action, and I feel this is indicative of her entire way of being a nurse. She is constantly visible in the G1 patient common area, personally interacting with her patients throughout her shift. She takes the time to get to know her patients, listening and advocating for them. She positions herself daily in a way that breaks down barriers of hierarchy that often exist between patients and caregivers in the psychiatric milieu. Meghan displays a consistent passion for her role and maturity beyond her years and is an inspiration to work with each day.
