My mother fell in love with Melanie. The only part she hated about going home was that she couldn’t take Melanie with her.
My nurse, Melanie Dodge, was wonderful. She was so friendly, which put me at ease. She always explained what she was going to do and asked if I had any questions. She knew that I did not like to be stuck. She would be very patient and was great at putting in a new IV quickly and painlessly every time. We always laughed, which was the best medicine. My rings got stuck on the hand that had all the IVs. I wasn’t sure how to get off. She had learned a trick and was able to get off quickly. I felt special. She never rushed out until I was ok. She was such a great nurse, caretaker, and medical advisor, and she was great at putting me at ease. We hugged when I left; she made a bad situation into something so much better. Melanie needs recognition for the extra steps she has taken to help us. Thank you!

I was recently admitted at Hillcrest Hospital on Tuesday, and the whole time I was there, from that Tuesday to Friday, I was treated absolutely amazingly! I’m not really good with names, but there’s one nurse I will always remember because she had two shadows with her, and she was very informative about how they should care for a patient. She was so blunt with it, but in a lovely way. Her name is Melanie Dodge. On my first day with her, she had me in good spirits from the time she came in until the time she clocked out. I’ll be having surgery, not sure exactly when, but whenever it is, I hope I’m put back on the 2nd floor. Being I live 2.5 hours away, they made me feel like I was home.

Melanie made sure that my father got the care he needed. She was patient and gave good advice in regard to what was happening to him day by day. She helped me understand what was going on with him and what they were doing to help combat his stoke diagnosis now and in the future. I really appreciated her down-to-earth personality. It really made me feel better knowing that he was in good hands at the Simpsonville hospital.
