I have HX of Demyelinating Disease (a form of MS). When admitted, the pharmacy changed one of my medications. My day nurse, Melissa, medicated me as ordered and the next day she had a hard time keeping me awake all during her shift. I even fell asleep in the middle of my lunch! When at 1400 the computer indicated I was due for another dose ofMirapex, she and I knew she gave me a doseat1 200, she questioned my med routine at home (no one questioned me about this in ED or admit to 2s), even when my husband brought all my meds, I questioned when my meds would be checked when in ED and admit 2s and was told ''someone will come soon''. After Melissa questioned me, she compared times of scheduled meds on the computer and saw I was being overmedicated! She had a lengthy discussion with pharmacy aboutchangingtimes of these meds. Melissa was at my bedside when my MD saw me indicating her plan of care and Melissa stated, ''you get to have me for another day!'' I was much more alert than the previous day thanks to her taking extra time with me and getting my med times changed. I didn't get a chance to see her again and thank her, but I am grateful for her diligence in digging into my HX. My hospitalization could have turned ugly without her intervention!
