Melissa came to my rescue. It was a difficult situation because of previous massive spine surgeries in conjunction with a non-functioning knee. She was so kind and patient.
I came into the ED by ambulance. I was unable to bear any weight on my right leg because of a horrible pain in my right knee. I also have some bladder issues.

After sitting in the waiting room for a while, it had become imperative that I get to the restroom. I told the lady at the desk, and within minutes, Melissa came to my rescue. It was a difficult situation because of previous massive spine surgeries in conjunction with a non-functioning knee. She was so kind and patient. She kept reassuring me that she was there to help me no matter how long it took, and she was so concerned about my pain.

When I was finally called back to a room in the ED, she was my nurse. She was very attentive through the course of the evening. She immediately recommended a pure wick so I would not have to try to stand again.

I am a very difficult stick to start an IV, and she was so careful and caring, and when she could not get one started, rather than hurt me, she had someone else try. She kept me in the loop of everything the NP and physician ordered and what to expect.

I know the things she did for me are just part of the job, but her great attitude, caring, and smiles made me feel like a person rather than a patient. I have been in the hospital many, many, many times, and Melissa is truly one of the best nurses I have ever had. It is the little things that help people and make the hospital experience more tolerable. You don’t have to save my life to be a superstar. Sometimes holding my hand or bringing me a popsicle are as important.

Her kindness, compassion and caring make her someone who needs to be recognized for a job well done. Please recognize her and thank her for being a #1 nurse.
