I am a mother of a 5-week-old baby who has been in the hospital since birth. I also have a 20-month-old at home. Trying to balance life right now is tricky, to say the least. That's why good care and communication is key. Melissa Caronia has demonstrated compassion when she catered to our story and needs. She took what I said and showed empathy. She helped me by showing me positivity in caring for my son and showing him love.
Melissa could clearly see the exhaustion on my face. She offered to cover some of his bottle feeds every 3 hours so that I could get some sleep. This was a complete game changer. She demonstrated good communication throughout all my nights here and made me aware of anything I slept through. We also discussed trends we saw with my baby and how they would be communicated to doctors.
Melissa was invested in making sure I was able to get the best care possible for my son and for myself. When I think about my experience at CHOP, I will never forget the care and compassion shown to me by Melissa.
