"Missy" is a critical care Admission-Discharge-Transport RN, which for us means she transports our most critically ill patients to and from our units. Being critical care nurses, we are very possessive of our patients. We feel that only we can properly care for them. When Missy comes to do our transports, we wholeheartedly trust that they will be cared for exactly as we would. We know that they are in a safe place, with a skilled critical care nurse.
Missy is kind and caring. She is an outstanding patient advocate. She does not just admit patients and leave the unit, she stays to be sure they are stable and all information needed to continue caring for them is communicated.
Missy is extremely knowledgeable. We do not have to explain or worry that when she is helping or transporting that something may be missed. Her critical care skills are as sharp as any nurse who works only in an ICU setting.
Above and beyond doing her job as ADT, Missy has an uncanny sense of "trouble brewing" and she comes to the units at exactly the right time. She does not stand around watching. She jumps in and helps where the emergency is. Or she will go into the nurse's other patient's room and take care of that patient. We say that the ICUs must send up a secret signal that Missy can see and she is always there to help us.
Missy always has a smile! She is calm in a crisis. She is skilled beyond her admittance! She is a true asset to Hackensack University Medical Center and her team in the MICU and CCU.
