Missy was an advocate for my mother when I, an RN myself, could not be there due to COVID restrictions.
Missy showed kindness and compassionate care to my mother, an RN herself here at this hospital for over twenty years. My mom found herself on the other side when she became a patient after contracting COVID. Missy took care of my mom on her worst and hardest day. She supported my mom when she disagreed with the intensivist that she was not ready to be intubated and needed time to prone herself. This support allowed my mom to have faith in herself and do everything she could to get herself better. Her oxygen saturations improved that day and she was able to slowly wean from the large oxygen requirement she was needing at the time and never ended up needing to be intubated. Missy was an advocate for my mother when I, an RN myself, could not be there due to COVID restrictions. She showed kindness by washing, brushing, and braiding her hair when my mom could not do it herself. This made my mom feel so much better and more human. I truly believe Missy was a very important factor in getting my mother through that day and through this awful virus. I will never be able to express how thankful my entire family is for the kindness and amazing care she showed to her.
