Melissa was my nurse last night and she had a one-on-one conversation with me. The conversation touched me in a way that has made going through these last two weeks all worth it. It made me really think about my life and of these hospitalizations as a 'process' that I must go through and accept! Prior to our conversation I had in the back of my head that suicide was inevitable someday, somehow. However, after our talk she changed my stance. She took away my reasoning and justification I had in mind about dying.
Melissa gave me the utmost respect. Her integrity as a clinician and just being human at times helped me identify what she was speaking about regarding turning negative thoughts into positive ones. She has the utmost respect for all the veterans here and her ambition and strive to become a nurse practitioner moves way beyond the word excellence. I am honored and humbled and sincerely appreciate her as being my nurse!Melissa is a top notch, dedicated, ambitious woman and the world is better having her in it.
