We have had nothing but the best people helping us at Mayo through the last 6 years during my husband’s battle with brain cancer. Today, though, was exceptional. This gal is one of the very best in her profession, and we can tell she’s the same in her life outside of work. She talked with such care and compassion about everyone in her life, from her coworkers to random strangers.

Tonight, Melissa came in and chatted with us for quite some time, making us feel loved and valued. She cares for those in her life personally and professionally. Her passion and love for others are truly evident in her care for her patients and their families. She even went way out of her way and found me, the spouse of her patient, mint tea to help with my stomach! It made my day. As a caregiver for many in my own life, it was nice to be cared for even though I was not the patient. But on top of that, she helped my husband feel like he mattered and was not just a number or a job.
