Mike is a national treasure, to be cherished and praised. He exceeded every aspect of my care and covered the most difficult portion of my stay at GBMC. He knew my throat was very sore from the breathing tube, and without me having to call, he came with lozenges and new water. He answered all my questions clearly, providing me peace of mind. If my question was beyond him, he got the PA to answer them for me. He introduced me to aromatherapy and provided me with the website to consider it more on my own after discharge. He included my wife in all our discussions and went to great lengths to be sure we were prepared for discharge. This has been a painful and foreign experience, but having Mike's care made it easier. I work in the service industry with high profile clients, in their homes and businesses, so my standard for client services is very high. He blew away my expectations- and then some! He said he was new to both Nursing and to GBMC, I thought he had a decade or more of experience. A major shout out to him, please let him know he is valued and priceless.

I came into the hospital for back surgery and unfortunately got an ileus. During my stay, one nurse, Mike, stood out above the rest. I was embarrassed and upset with my issues, but Mike would do whatever he could to make an awkward situation better. He always explained what was planned for the day, and if I asked him a question and he wasn't sure of the answer, he would always come back within a reasonable amount of time with the answer. Mike did his job well, but the reason I am writing this is because of the way Mike made me feel. Mike is a DAISY Nurse for being compassionate, kind, comforting and smart. He went above and beyond his duties. He would also be sure my wife was doing ok, which meant a lot to me. I wouldn't even have to push the call button because Mike would just pop in to see if I needed anything. Mike is an outstanding nurse and I will always remember him and all he did for me.
