Michael has been a great leader for our unit. He is fair, yet stern when the need arises. He leads by example. He listens to staff. His door is always open. There is a sense of calmness when he is here. The addition of Michael has made it pleasurable to come to work.

Michael has always been willing to help and has always been effective with communication by addressing people directly. His willingness to help and the ability to maintain a calm working environment has definitely made a difference with my experience working here.

Michael is amazing! Since he came to the unit he has brought a sense of order and leadership to the unit. He is always a great listener, always helps when needed, answers the phone any time of the day to help. He is truly a superstar and asset to CCU & LNRMC.

The first time I met Michael, I was out on PCCU hall. This hall can be very difficult at times as the patients are ill and resources can feel limited, almost like you are on an island. We met in a room where a patient was trying to get out of bed. I was very happy to see someone, as the theme of the day seemed to be confusion and climbing out of bed. Throughout the day, Michael continually came out of his office to answer call lights and bed alarms, always with a smile on his face. He asked me multiple times if he could help me with anything. This behavior has been consistent throughout my employment and a very welcome one. He is the most supportive leader and colleague I have worked with and is the definition of what a nurse and leader should be. He understands what nurses go through day in and day out and is willing to do anything to make our day better. I believe this is what being a leader is all about.

I started working for LNRMC as a new nurse graduate in July 2019. Since starting last year, Michael has been nothing but supportive, encouraging, compassionate, and caring towards me and the rest of the CCU staff. We can always count on him to jump in and help anytime we need it. He rounds many times a day on the unit asking if we "need anything" and if we "are okay". There have been several occasions that he has helped take care of patients, start IVs, tasks, etc. He is great at starting IVs by the way, and we often call him when we have a hard stick. He is available to speak with us whenever we need and takes our calls and text messages when he is home. I was a very nervous new graduate, and he has definitely made me feel welcome and a part of the team. I don't know what my future holds, but I hope to always have a boss as amazing and caring as Michael.

It has been such a pleasure working under the supervision of Michael. He demonstrates the highest level of commitment to his employees. He enhances the operation and morale of the unit. Michael gives words of encouragement and full support even if it's not work-related. He came into the unit one day and asked if everything was OK and said what's bothering you. It was a personal matter and he allowed me to express my emotions without judgment. Michael is the reason I come to work and try my best. He makes me want to improve our work unit. He exhibits integrity and fairness. It is one thing to be a boss, another thing to be a mentor, but a completely different thing to be a leader. Michael is all of the above.
Michael is not only an amazing nurse but also the BEST nursing leader I have ever had! If you need a difficult IV start, he's there. Assist during codes, he's there. Help with anything, he's there! He always rounds in the unit multiple times a day to make sure we are okay and asks if we need anything. He is a true nurse and patient advocate! We (staff) always feel comfortable coming up to him with questions and concerns. CHS is lucky to have him. Michael is a true asset to the nursing profession! I have worked with many directors in the pats that remained in their offices and NEVER saw or even communicated with them on a monthly basis. I'm so glad this is not the case with Michael!
