Several months ago, my annual Pap smear revealed abnormal cell growth necessitating a CONE biopsy and, in turn, a hysterectomy. The procedures were performed at Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, and on both occasions, Michele Lacoste was my post-op nurse. I couldn't have asked for a better person to be at my bedside as I slowly became more lucid and prepared to go home. She was kind and attentive for the duration of both of my stays, always putting me at ease. In fact, after my hysterectomy, she checked on me every day for several days after I was discharged. She is truly the epitome of nursing kindness and professionalism. While I certainly don't hope to have another surgery anytime soon, if/when I do, I can only hope that I will have Michele again as my post-op nurse. She is highly deserving of the recognition that comes with a DAISY Award.
