Michelle consistently demonstrates her commitment to compassionate and quality patient care through her dedication to the patients and staff on 5-West. She is an excellent nurse, leader, and role model to our team. Michelle recently assisted with a discharge delay, which reflected her dedication to ensuring extraordinary service on 5-West. A patient was admitted from an ALF without the charger for her home wound vac. The patient was ready to be discharged to SNF at 6:00 PM, but the RN discovered that no one had obtained the charger for the device she was ordered to discharge with. As a result, the discharge had to be canceled. Despite having already worked a 12-hour shift, Michelle drove to the ALF in Blair, NE, to personally pick up the charger. She then returned to the unit and charged the device so the patient could be discharged first thing in the morning.
