As a first time mom, the thought of labor can be daunting. Being scared of the unknown can take what’s supposed to be a beautiful time and fill it with anxiety. As someone who is terrified to simply get blood drawn, I just knew my birth experience would be filled with fear - except it was not. I remained calm and could focus on what my body needed to do to get my baby here as safely as possible. I accredit my positive birth experience to my nurse, Michelle. She held my hand and spoke positive words to both my husband and me during the scary parts. She was quick to solve any issues & thoroughly explain what was happening & why. Michelle was attentive to me despite having two patients in active labor at the same time. She truly made us feel like family, not just another patient. After my delivery, my husband couldn't stop telling people about the amazing support we had at St Vincent’s Clay - especially Michelle. I know that most of what she did during my labor is a part of her everyday job. However, the way that she does it with passion & kindness is above and beyond what we could have hoped for. We truly thank Michelle for helping bring our baby boy into this world & supporting us along the way. The world could use a few more people like her.
