Since the first time I came into the ICU, Michelle Carroll has been the most caring nurse and very gentle at what she does. Anything that had to be done with me she was right on the spot. I am the type of person who is very shy about my body and when I am ill I usually do everything by myself. I was so embarrassed to need help going to the restroom. She slowed me and told me not to be embarrassed, that is what they are here for and they understand when a patient is sick and can't do it themselves.
Michelle respected my privacy when I didn't want visitors and would let the visitors know. She also would hold my hand and tell me she has faith in me and not to give up. She is like an angel. I will never forget the day when her shift was over and there I am in the bed thinking to myself this is it, I'm dying. Before she had left she hugged me and took my hand and said, "We will go through this together; don't give up." As she was leaving I heard her shout out to the next nurse, "Take care of my girl." When I heard that my eyes lit open fast with tears, knowing in my heart these nurses really do care. When she shouted out that I hear the next nurse say, "I will!" We need more caring nurses like these two.
Michelle, God bless you and your family and your family at CHI. You are so kind and caring and gentle with your patients. Just know we always think about that day and we will forever be grateful for what you say and do.
Thank you and Love you!
