A patient showed up on our unit (2 RC) very confused; he was told by a Transplant Coordinator to come into the hospital because his lab work was off. I called back to the East end of our unit, and Michelle picked up the phone. I asked her if she knew where the Transplant PA was, and she said, "No, What do you need?" I then explained to her about the patient at the desk, who by now was not looking well. Michelle knew I was concerned and came right up to the desk after talking to the Hospitalist and PA. Both knew nothing about this patient. Michelle took this issue on with compassion and grace. She convinced the patient to stay and let her take him to the ER. He wanted to just leave. Michelle brought him down and made sure they knew what was going on and who to contact. Michelle goes above and beyond every time she works.
