I arrived in the OR with a happy outlook and a positive attitude. All thanks to the OR Nurse, Michelle.
I had a procedure performed in the morning to help relieve chronic pain in my right leg. I had been in considerable pain the night before the procedure and so I arrived at the surgery center in pain, tired, anxious and nervous. When it came close to the time of my procedure, the operating room nurse, Michelle Hudak, came into my room and immediately saw that I was upset. She went right to work talking to me, telling me what would happen during my procedure, and engaging me in conversation. This worked to get my mind off of the reasons why I was upset and I was soon laughing with her and enjoying the funny stories she told. She also encouraged me to think positively about the outcome of my procedure and she shared some personal insights into how thinking had helped her and her family members. She was then kind enough to get a wheelchair to take me to the operating room so I would not have to walk back to the OR while I was in pain. I arrived in the OR with a happy outlook and a positive attitude. All thanks to the OR Nurse, Michelle. She is one in a million and I am so glad I encountered her that morning.
