It was a very busy day for the ER and I became frustrated that I couldn't get tasks done quickly enough for my patients; I verbalized this in the nurse's station. Even though Shelly had many things to do herself and she was in charge, she stopped to help me. She consoled me too! Her calm strength got me through that crazy day. I was then able to slow down and care for people as they deserve. She is always able to stay calm no matter what. I admire her for this skill!
Shelly stopped to pray with a patient to overcome her disease of addiction. We usually never find out how people are doing unless they come back worse, but in this case, the patient returned with a friend who was a patient. She saw Shelly and thanked her again as she had been drug-free for three months!
Shelly truly touches people and naturally comforts them without a thought. She always has a positive approach. Shelly is a fine example of a nurse who reaches out to others and gives of herself endlessly.
