My father taught me how to do just about everything—play chess, solve calculus problems, and even cook a proper omelet. He was my beloved mentor, teacher, soothsayer, and ally.

However, near the end of my father's life, we had a terrible falling out that we never managed to repair. Not that that ever changed the gratitude and love I felt.

This is why I'm so very grateful to you for seeking me out on the day of his death. That day, you changed the course of my life. If you hadn't found me with the help of the sheriff's office, I never would have seen him while he was alive - and this would have haunted me until my dying day.

Thanks to you, I was able to sit at his bedside and comfort him during those final hours. Though we never spoke, it was, for me, nothing short of a sacred experience.

My daughter also had a special relationship with my father. Because of your compassion, she was able to say her last words to him, too.

I'll never be able to repay you. So, I can only thank you again and again—and tell you that you made a profound difference in our lives. Thank you for everything.
