B lights up when she is present, and his laughter can be heard, as well as the pure joy and love felt. How do you say thank you for that?
Thank you so much for letting our family share our thanks to the extraordinary Melinda Botterill RN BSN, for the nomination for the prestigious DAISY Award.
The DAISY is a perfect representation of Mindy. Daisies are associated with childhood and happiness. And over these past 13 years, Mindy has given B happiness and has been there throughout his childhood. Where children become tired or scared under the constant stress and pain of what comes with being a sick child.
B lights up when she is present, and his laughter can be heard, as well as the pure joy and love felt. How do you say thank you for that? How do you say thank you for 13 years? How do you say thank you for making hospital stays and clinic visits feel like visiting family?
As a parent, there are many words to express my thanks. Because, it is much more than just the little things to be thankful for, it’s trust, knowledge, expertise, warmth, care, dedication, determination, compassion, alertness, rapid action, and most importantly love and laughter.
There are many nurses who are extraordinary. Given our long history with Children’s DMC hospital, we have met a lot of the nursing staff, and when it comes to oncology nursing staff, Mindy is legendary, far beyond extraordinary. From her students to staff, Mindy is the light that brings a smile to those lucky enough to know her.
For our family, she is a light of hope and happiness, a DAISY that brightens even the darkest of days.
