Having a baby, let alone my first, was very stressful. When I entered my last trimester, I found out my baby was measuring small. Having a small baby completely changed my birthing plan.
I had my baby at 36 weeks - she was 4lbs and 8 oz. After a brief viewing of her, she was admitted to the NICU.
Miranda Brinker was the first nurse I met in the NICU. She had such a friendly face, a strong confident walk, and was genuine. I knew that my baby would be in good hands. Miranda was my nurse the entire time my baby was admitted in the NICU - she even came in on her day off just so she could say good bye to us (so amazing!) and walk us through the discharge papers. Through our week stay in the NICU, Miranda took the time to teach my husband and I everything we needed to know about having a baby and all the facts about her condition. When our baby started getting brady's, I was overwhelmed and stressed out of my mind. Miranda was able to explain everything to me and made me feel strong. She was there for our family and supported us through this journey.
During our stay, my husband and I celebrated our two-year anniversary. Miranda found out and made a scrapbook page for us that included pictures our baby and stamps of her footprints. When I came in to visit my baby girl in the morning, the scrapbook page was hanging above her crib. It brought tears to my eyes - it was so special.
Miranda not only cared for my baby, but for my husband and me. We were able to leave the NICU feeling confident and ready to be parents!
Miranda is such an amazing person. I could go on and on about all things she did for us. A nurse who goes out of their way to make a family feel confident, comes in on their day off, makes a special anniversary gift, and sets us up to be successful parents deserves the world.
I am forever grateful to Miranda and all the staff that I had the pleasure of meeting at Saint Luke's.
