Miranda Freeman, LPN, goes above and beyond for all of the patients. One morning after working all night, she came to see me. On the way out, she heard the sound of water falling. She found water pouring from the ceiling in a patient's room. She escorted the patient's wife to a safe, clean, dry room.
Miranda went back for the patient. While she was getting soaked from the water falling, Miranda covered the patient and moved him to another room. She even stayed to change the patient's bed and gown, so he was dry.
On another occasion, Miranda received a patient from ICU. The patient had long hair that was matted from tangles. She thought we would have to cut the patient's hair, but she stayed after shift and combed all of the tangles out. It took Miranda over an hour, but the patient was so appreciative that she did not have to cut her hair. Miranda didn't have to stay and help that morning on a unit she didn't even work on. But she did. She also didn't have to stay and get the tangles out of that patient hair. But she did. She goes out of her way to help those patients in need.
Miranda puts them before the needs of her and her family. Miranda always does the right thing without question. Her compassion for others is evident in her actions. I admire the Extraordinary Nurse that Miranda is and I am so proud to have the opportunity to work next to her.
