My mother in law was admitted to 2 West. Missy introduced herself to my wife and me. Throughout her shift, Missy continued to ask us to "get medications from home" and allow her to record them for accuracy. I thought my daughter could smartphone photos to me but pictures of a round bottle were incomplete. Missy suggested a video instead. Bummer those files were big, so I returned carrying a bin of well over 2 dozen pill bottles.
Missy sorted through the pill bottles and with my mother-in-law, clarified which/when, and found more than one problem. Generic versus brand names caused the possibility that my mother-in-law may have used both, unknowingly. Then same pills were a different strength which means same pill/drug different color/size/name and that could be deadly. We thought maybe the pharmacy or provider would catch that, but these were in our possession. Missy helped me make videos of only nine bottles in the end, and now my cell and mother-in-law's tablet have videos of only the necessary medicines.
Missy is truly a person who went that extra - extra mile and used her knowledge to find why this 70-year-old was admitted.
