This morning, Monica was with her family at their neighborhood park, and she observed a woman who was at the park but did not appear to be with anyone, and she was not speaking to anyone. Monica continued to watch her, noticing that this woman didn't have a water bottle, was dressed in too much clothing for the weather and just generally looked out of place. She asked another mom friend/neighbor to go with her to approach the woman.

Monica noticed the woman was wearing a life alert bracelet, and she asked the woman if she could look at it. Monica worked at a home that cared for Alzheimer's patients when she was in college and was recognizing telltale signs of dementia in this woman. She called the number on the life alert bracelet and activated it. She also called 911, which brought the police and EMS to assist. All of the first responders who arrived approached the situation with calmness. The policeman who arrived first had personal experience in his family with dementia, and together, along with EMS, they were able to assess her and contact her family to reunite them. Monica observed the situation, trusted her instincts, and took the initiative to avert a silver alert with a happy ending.
