On the morning of Saturday, January 14th, our surgical tech came into work and mentioned to Monica that she wasn’t feeling well. Monica demonstrated extraordinary judgment, compassion, and leadership by asking the right questions, identifying the possibility of heart attack, insisted and encouraged her to go to the ER.
Monica accompanied her and advocated for her through a difficult time. Monica comforted her and called in her significant other. When she coded, Monica comforted her fiancé. When I came in that morning, her fiancé shared with me how wonderful Monica was though the entire situation. He credits Monica for saving our coworkers life and so do I.
After Monica finished her shift, she went over to the RI campus to see the patient. Monica is a dedicated nurse, patient advocate, and comfort to others – not just the patients she is caring for but her coworkers as well.
