Monique began her nursing career with Harris Health System in Houston working at Thomas Street Health Center in the HIV Perinatal grant project. Here, she was responsible for the prenatal education of expectant mothers living with HIV, helping to ensure their infants would be born HIV-negative. She also worked closely with medical providers around Texas in Labor/Delivery Units instructing them on the most efficient methods of reducing the transmission of HIV during delivery.
Currently, Monique works with HIV patients that live with chronic pain often associated with AIDS related opportunistic infections or side effects in the Thomas Street Health Center Pain Management Clinic. She is undeniably an angel and is one of the kindest people I have ever met. Monique also makes it a point to treat all colleagues in all departments as if they are a top priority. She is unafraid to stand up for her patients and their care.
Monique's drive to keep going in the face of adversity is due to the positive difference she makes in the lives of our patients. Monique is living her calling in life. She is truly an inspiration to all of us.
