Morgan was my mom's nurse for her first 2 days in the ICU. She was so patient with us as we tried to understand what our mom had gone through. Our mom was a "1%" patient who coded during a "routine" TAVR procedure. Morgan was PATIENT with Mom and our family. She took the time to actually LISTEN to her, which is probably the most important thing to Mom. Morgan was assigned to Mom directly after the surgery. There were seven of us that wanted to see her right away. Mom was awake already (and we were told that it could take 4 hours for her to wake up). When we arrived, Mom was telling us she could not breathe. Of course, we worried, but Morgan took the time to CALM us down and REASSURE us that the machines were breathing for her.
Many times over the next 2 days, Morgan took the time to really help us understand what had happened. When a surgeon would stop in the room and explain to us what had actually happened during the surgery, she would get diagrams of the heart for us to better visually understand what the surgeons were saying in terms a non-medical person could understand. I just feel Morgan went above and beyond what she needed to do for us at a time we needed it most. She showed so much compassion to us. Morgan was an EXCEPTIONAL nurse who went above and beyond for my mom and her family.
What I noticed the most about Morgan is how she didn't feel comfortable accepting our praises - it was her "job". We have been around so many nurses in our life, and I can say Morgan was by far the best. I can't thank Morgan enough for her bedside manner with Mom and us during one of the hardest days of our life.
