Nancy Ewart was nominated patient family member
My mother was a patient in the SICU from February 21-23. She was in recovering from a double bypass operation. During the time she was there, she suffered from several mini-strokes and one medium sized stroke. The nurse who attended to her was Nancy. She treated my mother and my family with nothing but kindness and respect. She did everything she could to keep my mother comfortable and calm. She also took the time to talk to my sister and me to explain everything and to always answer any questions we had. She was very empathetic to our concerns. She kept recommending that we take care of ourselves as well. She even checked in on us after our mother was moved upstairs.
The three of us all felt she is an exemplary nurse. She helped any of the other nurses on the unit whenever she was asked and did so cheerfully. You can clearly tell she enjoys her work and was born to do it. My mother was taken care of so well. We all feel that everyone at Lahey has been great but Nancy made a lasting impression that none of us will ever forget. We thank her whole-heartedly for all she did for us.
