We felt that no one was going to treat us like Nathan did. We felt like he had become our family. We exchanged stories, and he made us feel so comfortable.
The day started with a phone call at work that my husband was being transported to our local hospital. I arrived, and after testing and talking with the doctor, he said he was having a mild stroke. We were told he would need to be flown out to Norton Brownsboro. I had never been there and not in this type of situation either. My two girls and I headed that way after everything was taken care of. I remember the trip there. I was worried about my husband and how I would find him when I got there. As we entered the hospital, there were two ladies sitting at the desk. They gave us a very warm welcome. They told us exactly where to go. We made it to the third floor.
We were not in the room very long and in comes my husband and the most caring nurse. Nathan made us feel so welcome. He explained everything he was doing and going to do. He went above and beyond to make us feel at home. If we asked for anything, there was no wait time.
It was getting close to shift change, and Nathan came in and said he would be bringing our night nurse around in a little bit. My husband and I both were really dreading it. We felt that no one was going to treat us like Nathan did. We felt like he had become our family. We exchanged stories, and he made us feel so comfortable. It was around 7 pm and in came Nathan and the night nurse. He introduced her and gave his report. She later came in, and we had a long talk and got to know her. She was amazing. We got the same care as the day shift. We laid there and talked about what were the odds that we would be so blessed with two amazing nurses.
I just want you to know that these ICU nurses are more than I can say. We were certainly blessed with our stay. I came back home and told my doctor that if I ever get sick, I want to go there. It was everything you want when you can’t be at home. Great job, and keep up the good work.
