Neha was nominated by the wife of a patient, who spent an extended period in the CVICU, who wrote:
My husband was in the CVICU for 37 days. During this time, he was cared for by some of the best ICU staff I could imagine. One of the staff members stood out amongst the already amazing staff working in the CVICU. That staff member is Neha Darji. Oh, Neha! It is difficult for me to even begin to explain how wonderful I feel you are. Your knowledge, patience, and humor got us through some very difficult times. One circumstance specifically stands out when I think of you. I was in the room visiting, and my husband's defibrillator shocked him, soon after he began having difficulty breathing. A flood of 20 people came in the room to help my husband. During the flurry of this ordeal, I remember Neha locking eyes with me and mouthed the words, "are you okay?" Even though everything was going on around us and my husband was in a critical state, Neha took the time to care about me, the patient's wife, and this is just what I needed. That is Neha's standout strength, she takes the time to care for not only the patient, but goes above and beyond to care for the patient's family as well. During our time with Neha, she demonstrated care and concern for both my husband and our family on multiple occasions. From patiently teaching me how to complete a VAD dressing change, to explaining each and every medication she administered (which was quite a few). Neha was simply outstanding.
