Nella is a dedicated nurse and has a great passion for nursing. She consistently demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with her peers and co-workers. She is the epitome of a genuine nurse and she upholds all values of our hospital. She always goes out of her way to do the best to fulfill the needs of her patients and colleagues. She is well commended by the patients for the compassion and holistic care they have received from her. Nella has won the "STAR of the YEAR award for "Patient Choice" award category for 2017.She has received numerous appreciation letters from her patients. With her soft voice, she can convince even the difficult patients to do or agree to the procedures or treatments.
One patient said, "My has gone away whenever I was looked after by this nurse who always wears a smile on her face. I have fears of being admitted to the hospital but Nella made the difference in my stay here in this hospital. I felt I was treated as her true family. Nowadays nurses are task oriented but Nella has managed still to be patient-oriented."
There was a patient who was bedridden for so long due to complicated surgery. She only experienced a stretcher ride inside the unit and was so eager to sit in a wheelchair so she can feel like she can be functional again. Nella made the patient's dream possible, she took time to get the patient in a wheelchair with precaution for the first time and wheeled her out of the unit to breathe some fresh air. In spite of her busy day and increased workload she found time to grant her patient's wish.
She is very approachable and will always find time to accommodate her colleagues. She has received excellent feedback from her preceptees. "Nella is spectacular, fabulous, never gets tired of teaching and never gets irritated. Nella has taken away my homesickness from my family. I feel like I have a family in KSA."
Nella never stops addressing any issues or concerns about her patients until the issue has been resolved and patient satisfaction has achieved. Her personal commitment to quality is noticed in everything she does. She consistently goes the extra mile to get things done in a timely manner.
Nella is a self-sacrificing person. She just works quietly and always wears a smile and never complains about anything. She selflessly shares her knowledge and skills to her colleagues especially to the new staff and Saudi Interns. She is a source of pride and inspiration to all of us. Her willingness to go beyond is well known in the unit. I have worked with her on one of our Performance Improvement Project Task forces, with her creative ideas and innovations and extra efforts, her insights and opinions are extremely valued by all. We are fortunate to benefit from her contributions to our unit. She collaboratively works with the team towards a common shared vision. The caliber of her work is exceptional! It has a great impact in guiding our units' quality outcome. She works quietly and is never boastful of her achievements. Nella is a true DAISY Nurse.
