To single out an individual whom I felt stood out in the performance of their duties was very hard. I feel Ngandu went far beyond his duties of patient care. I also feel he took the hospital's personalized health care goals to a new level. Ngandu was always positive, explained each procedure he performed, told me what the medicine he administered was for. If I had questions that he could not answer, he always found one of the hospital staff that could give me an answer. He made me feel like he cared and made me think positive about my recovery. He always had a positive message to pick me up when I was down and was never in a hurry to just do what he had to do and move on to the next patient. He took his time to help me move around and see that I was comfortable, and my needs were taken care of. At shift change, he explained my condition to the oncoming nurse. He made sure that his replacement understood my treatment plan and my special needs. When his shift ended he would come and talk with me about sports and different positive aspects of my recovery. He was never in a hurry. I personally looked forward to him returning to work. On his days off he was surely missed.
