I brought my dad into the ER for a foot infection. My dad has dementia and can be a bit of a handful sometimes. Nick spoke to my dad with respect and humor. He explained things to him in a manner he could understand. At one point, Nick had to take a picture of the wound on Dad’s foot. He measured it as well, and later, when Dad was admitted, another nurse commented on how much she appreciated that Nick did that. Nick checked in regularly during our rather long stay. He and the other staff on duty were very affirming with each other. The teamwork and mutual respect were refreshing. Nick did the job for which he was trained and paid to do. But he did so much more than what was expected. His attention to detail and professionalism while still being friendly and approachable were exemplary.
