She did all discharge planning with the doctor and arranged a meeting with the funeral home for me so I didn’t have to call.
Nicole was such an understanding, caring, and supportive person to have as my wife and I navigated this entirely new process together. She was extremely supportive. Overall, she helped us to stay positive when labor was not seeming to be progressing, only to quickly change after doing Spinning Babies practices with us. She couldn’t have done any better job accompanying us on this new and life changing experience.

This nomination involves 3 RNs from Maternity.
I had a partial miscarriage of my twin girl pregnancy at 19 weeks and had to deliver them with induction. I went in on a Monday, and My Nurse was Kayla, and she was wonderful. She kept my spirits up, fulfilled my crazy requests for comfort like getting hot chocolate, and made me feel comfortable during a time no one should have to go through. Beth was my nurse at night once Kayla went home for the evening, and she would be the one holding my hand when my girls were born. Kayla and Beth cried with me, laughed with me, and made me feel strong during an impossible task and comforted me the whole time. Beth found a bunch of things I could remember my girls with and even got hand and foot prints of my girl who was born alive. She took photos of them and made sure everything was done in a dignified manner. My girl that was born alive was only supposed to hang on for about an hour, as she was only 19 weeks, and my little fighter held on for 8.5 hours. Beth was there the whole time, encouraging me, checking on my girls, and giving me strength. Beth was there when my girl passed on and gave me time to grieve alone with her. Nicole came in when Beth’s shift was over and was the nurse who helped me say final good-byes and helped me with what life was going to look like once I left the hospital. She did all discharge planning with the doctor and arranged a meeting with the funeral home for me so I didn’t have to call. She helped me walk out and said kind, encouraging words before I got in my car to leave. This was an event no one should have to ever go through, something impossibly heart-wrenching and beyond difficult, but the staff at MaineGeneral is so amazing, caring, and understanding. I would not have been able to get through without them by my side, and I am forever grateful for the team I had by my side for this. Thank you will never be enough. These women, these professionals, are heaven-sent in every way
