I was recently admitted to Sanford Medical Center Broadway for 19 days. I was diagnosed with TTP at 34 years old. My treatment included many sessions of plasmapheresis, which was conducted by the dialysis department of nursing staff. Nicole was one of the first nurses who administered my plasma exchange. From the moment she walked in my room she made me feel at ease, even though I was an emotional mess not knowing exactly what was going to happen, the future, etc. Nicole took the time to explain things to me, at the same time she was teaching another nurse the procedure. She was always very professional, but at the same time, she talked to me as a person and not a patient to help keep my mind off the negative/bad things and on the positive. She built a rapport with me that I will always remember. She was kind and caring and provided excellent continuity of care at each additional session of plasma exchange that she administered. For me personally, the continuity and the familiar face helped ease my mind and made me feel more relaxed during my stay in the hospital and during my treatments. Nicole is an excellent, kind, caring, special nurse, and person in general. The knowledge she showed, not only to me but the other nurses she was training was superb! She was patient with the other nurses when they had questions, even if it was a repeat question. She never showed any frustration at having to repeat things. She always showed kindness and compassion towards everyone. Nicole is a great nurse and person.
